The Satellite

Emerging in autumn, hibernating, and flying again in early spring, this moth's flight times mean that it may be under-recorded.&nbsp; It is essentially a woodland moth, and has been reared in the county from oak and elm, but is also regularly recorded in gardens.&nbsp; Records show that it occurs widely but patchily across the county.

Sword-grass

A species of moorland, rough pasture and open woodland. It used to be found widely in England and Wales, but its range has constricted northwards and is now largely restricted to north-east Scotland. Outside of that area it is a scarce immigrant.&nbsp; There has been a scattering of records in the county. It can be confused with Red Sword-grass.

Red Sword-grass

A scarce moth, recorded in small numbers most years.&nbsp; Whilst there are a scattering of records right across the county, it is found most commonly around Clevedon/Portishead, and around Taunton and Crewkerne.
