    Xanthia togata

    NoctuidaeABH 73.181 B&F 2273

Widespread though rarely common across the county, seemingly occurring wherever sallows can be found, including the peatlands of the central Levels, post-industrial sites in the east Mendips and on open moorland on central Exmoor.  A moth whose young larvae feed internally within sallow catkins and which it is often easier to find by collecting the catkins and rearing the larvae.
