Orange Sallow

    Tiliacea citrago

    NoctuidaeABH 73.179 B&F 2271

Widely if thinly distributed, and reliant on patches of the foodplant, limes Tilia spp.  Unsurprisingly, it appears to be absent from areas which lack the foodplant, such as inland Exmoor and the Levels.  It is a moth that can appear to be absent from an area yet be found by deliberate targeting, whether by placing lights under stands of elm or by searching for the larvae in their spinnings in spring.
