Round-winged Muslin

    Thumatha senex

    ErebidaeABH 72.037 B&F 2035

A scarce and local wetland specialist, which rarely seems to wander far from its breeding grounds, which are intermittently and irregularly surveyed.  Occasionally found in good numbers at Shapwick and Westhay, and this area appears to hold its strongest population in the county.  Also reasonably frequently recorded from the Gordano Valley, Berrow and Priddy Mineries, and a couple of recent records from the eastern edge of Taunton suggest there may be another population establishing in this area.
