Aspen Pigmy

A leaf-miner on Aspen <i>Populus tremula</i> and White Poplar <i>Populus alba</i>, neither of which are common trees in Somerset.&nbsp; Three records from two sites (and both foodplants) in and around Frome, an area with good numbers of poplars by Somerset standards.

Willow Pigmy

A leaf-miner on willows, appearing relatively uncommon, with a thin but widespread scattering of records across the county.&nbsp; It should be found more often than it has been on the Levels, considering how widespread its foodplants are there.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Black-poplar Pigmy

A leaf-miner on Black Poplar and (more usually in Somerset) hybrid poplars.&nbsp; Most records are from the Levels and low-lying areas in the south of the county.&nbsp; It is absent from the Mendips, where the foodplant is entirely absent, and scarce in the north of the county, again reflecting the relative rarity of the tree.&nbsp; Unsurprisingly, it is absent from Exmoor, other than from a series of records in the Porlock area, but might be expected from the low-lying coastal areas between Minehead and Dunster.
