Stigmella suberivora

    Plain Holm Oak Dot

    NepticulidaeABH 4.057 B&F 85

A miner on Holm Oak Quercus ilex, an introduced species fashionable in large gardens in the 19th century, still planted, and occasionally naturalised. Most often recorded from Bath and Weston-super-Mare, with a scatter of records elsewhere.  It is becoming increasingly hard to find amongst the masses of Ectoedemia heringella mines that can now be found on Holm Oak at the same time.
