Eyed Hawk-moth

    Smerinthus ocellata

    SphingidaeABH 69.002 B&F 1980

Generally holding its own in the county and reasonably common.  Few records from inland Exmoor, which no doubt reflect under-recording, as there is plenty of sallow available there.  Apparently genuinely absent from an area of east Somerset stretching east from Shepton Mallet.

    Adult Verification Grade: 1
