Lunar Hornet Moth

    Sesia bembeciformis

    SesiidaeABH 52.003 B&F 371

Historically this has been a difficult moth to survey for, though the recent introduction of a specific pheromone for it should help matters.  A good proportion of the records are from exit holes on felled sallows.  A scattering of records across the county, suggesting it is perhaps the most widespread and common of the clearwings here.
