Beautiful Yellow Underwing

A moth of heather moors.&nbsp; The adults fly by day and it can also be found by looking for the highly cryptic larvae on heather.&nbsp; It is still widely if infrequently recorded on heather-dominated areas of Exmoor, and also on Quantock.&nbsp; Although there is now little suitable habitat, there are a few historic VC6 records, the last being in 1994 at Loxton Hill.

This species is probably now extinct nationally, and disappeared from Somerset long ago.&nbsp; Two records, from the Isle of Wedmore in 1922 and from Saltford in 1967.
