Frequently recorded across the county in small numbers, more numerous although rarely really common in woodland.

Brown Silver-line

Associated with bracken, this moth comes to light in good numbers but is also frequently disturbed by day.&nbsp; Its distribution is governed by the foodplant - very common and easily found across much of the county but altogether absent from areas lacking bracken.

Barred Umber

A scarce moth associated with woodland, perhaps especially oak woods.&nbsp; Commonest in the Blackdowns, Quantocks and the wooded fringes of Exmoor.&nbsp; Very rare in VC6, perhaps restricted to a handful of isolated colonies.
