Dark Alder Midget

A fairly widespread and common miner of the leaves of alders - usually Alnus glutinosa but also A. incana and A. cordata - and likely to be more widely distributed than the map currently suggests.

Broad-barred Midget

Probably the scarcest of the four Phyllonorycter species mining common alder, Alnus glutinosa, but still fairly widespread where the foodplant is found, and probably more evenly distributed across the county than the distribution map currently suggests.

Red Hazel Midget

Widely distributed and fairly common wherever hazel occurs, though nowhere near as abundant as Phyllonorycter coryli which shares the same foodplant.&nbsp; A species where the mines can often be numerous in one area of a hedgerow, but absent from adjacent parts.
