Scale-tooth Lance-wing

A day-flyer associated with umbellifers, on the wing in
June.&nbsp; Rare and local, but possibly
under-recorded and might repay deliberately targeted searching.&nbsp; To date only known from two sites in the
Horner Woods area of Exmoor, where it was recorded in 1996.

Bramble False-feather

Scarce, with around 15 records to date, but perhaps
overlooked.&nbsp; Many of the records are
daytime sightings and it may not come to light.

Yellow-spotted Lance-wing

A day-flying species of high summer, associated with Hogweed
<i>Heracleum spondylium</i>.&nbsp; Probably
under-recorded as it does not come to light, but undeniably much rarer than its
foodplant; only eleven records to date, all from VC6 and none more recently
than 1984.&nbsp; Brightly-coloured and
superficially easy to identify, but beware the similarly-patterned tortrix <i>Pammene
aurana</i>, which flies slightly earlier in the year.
