Dingy Shears

Always a local moth, this species appears to be becoming scarcer.&nbsp; It is very patchily distributed, and appears to be absent from a large section of central Somerset including the Levels and Mendips.

Minor Shoulder-knot

A much-declined moth, formerly found across the entire county.&nbsp; Recent records have mostly been from the Blackdowns woodlands and from Great Breach Wood on the Poldens.

The Suspected

A widely distributed resident and immigrant moth of fens, woodland, heathland and moorland, scarcer in the west. Turner (1955) listed it as rare and local. Most modern county records unsurprisingly come from the Quantocks and Avalon Marshes. The larval foodplant is birch.
