Wood Tiger

    Parasemia plantaginis

    ErebidaeABH 72.025 B&F 2056

This always seems to have been a scarce and local species.  It has been lost from the Quantocks (last record 1970).  On Exmoor it is regularly recorded from Haddon Hill as a by-product of butterfly transect recording there, with a scattering of records from elsewhere.  On Mendip it occurs in a cluster of nearby species-rich grassland sites - Westbury Beacon, Draycott Sleights, Ubley Warren and Priddy Mineries.
