Nematopogon pilella

    Pale Brown Long-horn

    AdelidaeABH 7.011 B&F 142

Has probably never occurred in Somerset.

"Recorded by the Rev. S. O. Ridley, probably from the Mendips, in 1915.  We regard this as rather doubtful as pilella is a northern insect and we can find no notes of its occurrence south of Yorkshire.  It can very easily be confused with other members of this genus" (A. R. Hayward (1939), Proceedings of the Somerset Archaeological & Natural History Society).
