Restricted by the distribution of its foodplants, rock-roses Helianthemum spp., to calcareous areas.  It appears to be widespread in the western Mendips and occurs more locally elsewhere.  There are relatively few records of this species to light - it has also been recorded by daytime observations of the adult and of the larval mines in May and June.
