Brilliant Neb

This moth is associated with greater knapweed, a plant of calcareous grassland.&nbsp; Unlike the other species of the genus, for which most of the records are recent, this moth has not been recorded in Somerset since 1990.&nbsp; The foodplant is fairly easy to find locally in calcareous areas, and it is not unreasonable to think that the moth is still present in the county.

Burdock Neb

Commoner in south-east England, there are few Somerset records of this species.&nbsp; Like other Metzneria species, it is probably easiest to find via targeted searching - in this case, collecting the seed-heads of burdocks in the autumn and waiting for the adults to emerge the following year.

Meadow Neb

This moth is associated with black knapweed, Centaurea nigra, a common grassland plant.&nbsp; Like other Metzneria species, it feeds in the seed-heads of its foodplant.&nbsp; In Somerset it is thinly recorded, but potentially more widespread than shown.
