Scarce Blackneck

    Lygephila craccae

    ErebidaeABH 72.064 B&F 2467

Rare, very local, resident on rocky coastlines and steep coastal cliffs between Minehead and the Devon border, where its foodplant, Wood Vetch, can be found. Owing to the impossibility of running lights on its habitat, traditionally recorded by searching for the nocturnal larvae, which in itself can be difficult and dangerous. Because of the difficulties in accessing its favoured sites, numbers may be higher than thought.  Has also been recorded as a possible rare immigrant in southern counties. The distribution map shows an erroneous record from the Merriott area.

    Adult Verification Grade: 2
