    NoctuidaeABH 73.203 B&F 2238

This woodland species was believed to be resident in parts of south Wales and Gloucestershire in the 19th century. Since then, it has occurred as very rare immigrant, mainly along the south-east coast of England. Turner (1955) lists one county record, of a pair that was labelled as having bred at Bathampton and sold at auction in 1938: "a pair, labelled 'Ross, Bathampton', in the Baron Bouck collection, were sold at Stevens in October 1938, and are now in my collection" (A. R. Hayward (1939), Proceedings of the Somerset Archaeological & Natural History Society).
