    A species of wetlands, damp woodlands, riverbanks and marshes, restricted largely to parts of southern England, south and west Wales, central Yorkshire and the Norfolk Broads. Turner (1955) considered it to be very local but sometimes common. Since 1971 it has been recorded irregularly and in small numbers, mainly in the Avalon Marshes.
