The Fern

    Horisme tersata

    GeometridaeABH 70.127 B&F 1782

Widespread though rather local, largely in calcareous areas supporting the larval foodplant traveller's joy Clematis vitalba.  Commonest in parts of the Blackdowns, the Poldens, the Mendip scarp and around Weston-super-Mare and Bath.  Largely absent from inland Exmoor, the Quantocks and the Levels, probably through lack of foodplant.  Most usually recorded as single individuals to light, especially in gardens.

    Adult Verification Grade: 1
