Dusky Sallow

Fairly widespread, though absent
from parts of east Mendip and from inland Exmoor.&nbsp; Numbers seem to have fallen from the turn of
the century.&nbsp; A grassland species, it is
often recorded by day, nectaring on knapweed or ragwort, as well as to light at
night.

Haworth's Minor

Confined to wet moorland on Exmoor, especially around Simonsbath, with cotton-grasses <i>Eriophorum</i> spp.&nbsp; These are amongst the most southerly British populations.&nbsp; Most records come from running lights on its habitat, but it is sometimes recorded flying by day.&nbsp; The ongoing mire restoration works in this area should hopefully benefit this moth.

The Crescent

A wetland moth, using reed beds, fens, marshy ground and boggy moorland. Turner (1955) listed it as occasional and local.&nbsp; Unsurprisingly, most county records come from the Avalon Marshes.
