Yellow-barred Long-horn

This unmistakeable moth is locally common, occasionally abundant, across much of the county in the sunny fringes of woodland areas.&nbsp; It seems more widespread in the south and west, and is absent from those substantial areas of the Levels where no woodland exists.<br>

Alder Lift

The most abundant of the three Heliozela species in the county, quite common where it occurs, yet absent from sizeable areas of the county.&nbsp; Usually recorded as a leaf-mine on alder, though there are occasional records of adults disturbed during the day.<br>

Birch Lift

A birch-feeding species, and unsurprisingly strongly associated with areas where birch occurs naturally - the western uplands and the surviving carr vegetation on the Levels around Shapwick Heath.&nbsp; It has also been found at Leigh Woods and Asham Wood where birch scrub has established itself on areas of old limestone quarry workings.<br>
