Brindled Green

This moth may be under-recorded as it flies relatively late in the year.&nbsp; It is frequently encountered in the south of the county, but absent from inland Exmoor and from north of the Poldens, reappearing, rather less frequently, north of the Mendips.

Oak Rustic

A recent colonist, first recorded in Britain in 1999, which has become local in south coastal areas from Devon east to Sussex. Outside of these areas it appears to be a scarce immigrant. It occupies woodlands, gardens and hedgerow, where its larval foodplant is evergreen Oak.&nbsp; First recorded in Somerset in 2018, its status in the county is unclear but records in four consecutive years from the fringes of Taunton suggest a resident population.

Merveille du Jour

The star attraction of the autumn, this moth is widespread in the county in variable, but seldom high, numbers.&nbsp; The larval hostplant is oak, and it is more frequently found in areas where woodland is dominated by oak - the west and south of the county, and the extreme eastern border.
