Cotton-grass Fanner

No Somerset records; associated with cotton-grass Eriophorum spp., and possible it has been
overlooked in suitable habitat on Exmoor or in the Gordano valley.

Plain Fanner

Common but local, occasionally in substantial numbers.&nbsp; It is found in upland south and west
Somerset, and from the Mendips northwards, with a large gap in distribution in
the centre of the county.&nbsp; Associated
with field wood-rush Luzula campestris,
a species of short-turf, usually dry grasslands.

Stonecrop Fanner

There are two records of this moth from long ago, at Misterton and at Batcombe.&nbsp; It was found as recently as 1991 just across the Wiltshire border by targeted searching around its hostplant, Biting Stonecrop Sedum acre, and it may well be awaiting rediscovery in the county in rocky places or along old stone walls, which abound in parts of Mendip.
