Jersey Tiger

    Euplagia quadripunctaria

    ErebidaeABH 72.03 B&F 2067

Resident and possible immigrant. This species did not feature in Turner (1955) but has now colonised due to a huge range increase since the 1990s, spreading outwards from the Taunton area. The moth can now be met with across most of the county, though it is still scarce on Mendip and in Exmoor it can only be found near the coast.  Flies during the day, when it nectars on various flowers, including Buddleia. Also attracted to light at night.

    Adult Verification Grade: 1
