Always rather local, now in decline, and not recorded since 2017.&nbsp; The countryside around Crewkerne and Yeovil might be the best place to find it.

Yarrow Pug

Nationally scarce resident and suspected immigrant, first recorded in the UK in Kent in 1933, and in the county, in 1992, since when there has been a very small number of records. It is primarily a moth of open coastal habitats such as sand-dunes and shingle beaches, but may also occur on road verges and rough grassland. The foodplant is Yarrow, on whose flowers and seed heads the larva feeds. identification needs to be taken with care, so that Pauper, Plain, Pimpinel and Grey Pugs can be eliminated.

Tawny Speckled Pug

Formerly widespread and fairly common, this moth has declined massively since 2006 and has now become scarce and very local.&nbsp; Most records now come from a small number of particularly favoured gardens, especially in the centre-west of the county.
