Campanula Pug

    Eupithecia denotata

    GeometridaeABH 70.185 B&F 1836

Two subspecies, denotata feeding on Campanula spp. and Jasione Pug jasioneata feeding on Sheep's Bit Jasione montana.  Jasione Pug was found at Watchet in 1909 and rediscovered in 2020 at Hurlstone Point (both larvae and adults; larvae found there again in 2021).  The moth has also been reported from Berrow Dunes in 1981, ST36 (Weston-super-Mare area) in 1982 and ST25 (Berrow/Brean Down area) in 1995.  These have not been assigned to either subspecies and it seems highly unlikely that these populations persist.

    Adult Verification Grade: 3
