Cloaked Pug

    Eupithecia abietaria

    GeometridaeABH 70.149 B&F 1815

Has a very scattered distribution in Great Britain, and seems to be a very local species.  Its larval foodplant is primarily large cones of mature Norway Spruce, so the species is restricted to conifer plantations.  Not recorded in the county until 1965, after which there were a handful of records until 2015, when there were 11 records  at Berkley Marsh near Frome in April and May.
