    TortricidaeABH 49.233 B&F 1156

A variable species.  Uncommon in the county, sometimes coming to light, and can be recorded by rearing from its distinctive larval spinnings.  Most records are from the Blackdowns and the complex of woodlands on acidic soil and post-industrial sites between Shepton Mallet and Frome in the east of the county.  Unusually for a birch-feeder, there are no records for the Quantocks and only from a single site on Exmoor.

    Adult Verification Grade: 2
