Scarce Footman

Unhelpfully named – although not
as abundant as one lookalike, Common Footman, it is far more common than other lookalikes,
being a widespread if somewhat local species that can occur to light in
numbers, especially near the coast.

Dingy Footman

Needs care to separate from the
less common, but still widespread, Buff Footman.&nbsp; Widely distributed and becoming more
common.&nbsp; Frequent in gardens with big
numbers on some of the county’s larger and better known wildlife sites –
Shapwick, Westhay, Stockhill, Merryfield and others.

Care needs to be taken over
separating this species from a number of similar, but less common species.&nbsp; Still an extremely common species, likely to
be met with in numbers anywhere, but numbers do seem to have fallen since the
start of the century.&nbsp;
