Virgin Pigmy

A leaf-miner of Aspen Populus tremula, a scarce plant in Somerset.&nbsp; The mines of this moth are only visible for a short while during the later stages of larval development, so it can be hard to record.&nbsp; It does not occur wherever Aspen can be found, but on some sites can be found in good numbers.

Hypericum Pigmy

The natural foodplants of this moth are St John's Worts Hypericum spp, and the moth has adapted to feed on ornamental Hypericum found in gardens.&nbsp; Fairly widespread across the county, with a slight tendency for the moth to be more frequently recorded in urban areas on ornamental foodplant.

Few records of this hard-to-find miner on sallow, but it appears to be spread right across the county.
