Silver-striped Hawk-moth

A rare migrant, unknown in the county before the present century.&nbsp; Five records: Martock (2006), Cothelstone Hill (2008), Crowcombe (2009), Walton Common (2011) and Cleeve Park near Minehead (2017).

Elephant Hawk-moth

Perhaps the most common of the hawk-moths, and likely to be found anywhere in the county.&nbsp; Whilst still a common species, there used to be more of them about; numbers never seem to have fully recovered from the poor summer of 2007.

Small Elephant Hawk-moth

A fairly widespread and common resident, but nowhere near as frequently encountered as its larger cousin, and some of the gaps in its distribution (between Midsomer Norton, Shepton Mallet and Frome, for instance) may well be genuine.
