Blair's Mocha

A scarce autumn immigrant, recorded mainly in open areas and woodland. Prior to the 21st century there were just two county records. Since then there has been a handful of records.

The Mocha

Nationally not a common moth, but in Somerset very much a common and widely distributed one, feeding on Field Maple (Acer campestre); absent from inland Exmoor where the foodplant is not found, scarce in parts of the Levels and east Somerset, perhaps for similar reasons.<br>

Birch Mocha

The vast majority of Somerset records are from Shapwick Heath; it occasionally wanders to other sites, usually nearby.&nbsp; The moth used to occur in the Avon Gorge, at Great Breach Wood in the Poldens, and perhaps in the Blackdowns.<br>
