Lunar-spotted Pinion

A scarce moth, being recorded in
low numbers and not every year, and seems to have declined, especially in the
north of the county.&nbsp; Substantial numbers
were recorded in a survey of Merryfield, 2002-2004, suggesting it can still be
locally abundant where conditions are right for it.&nbsp; Thurlbear appears to be another stronghold
for this moth.

Lesser-spotted Pinion

A moth with a scattered and local distribution across the county, but much-declined as a result of Dutch Elm Disease.&nbsp; It appears reluctant to fly far to light, and targeted searching for the larvae in spring has shown it to be more widespread than light-trapping records suggest, at least in the north-east of the county.

Dun-bar

Distributed throughout the county, usually in small numbers, with occasional reports of double figures at light.&nbsp; Larvae often on elm and lime, as well as other trees.
