Lunar-spotted Pinion

    Cosmia pyralina

    NoctuidaeABH 73.217 B&F 2319

A scarce moth, being recorded in low numbers and not every year, and seems to have declined, especially in the north of the county.  Substantial numbers were recorded in a survey of Merryfield, 2002-2004, suggesting it can still be locally abundant where conditions are right for it.  Thurlbear appears to be another stronghold for this moth.
