Lesser-spotted Pinion

    Cosmia affinis

    NoctuidaeABH 73.215 B&F 2316

A moth with a scattered and local distribution across the county, but much-declined as a result of Dutch Elm Disease.  It appears reluctant to fly far to light, and targeted searching for the larvae in spring has shown it to be more widespread than light-trapping records suggest, at least in the north-east of the county.

    Adult Verification Grade: 2
