The Chestnut

    Conistra vaccinii

    NoctuidaeABH 73.194 B&F 2258

Widespread and fairly common across the county, perhaps under-recorded as its flight time falls outside the traditional light-trapping period - the adult moths emerge in autumn, hibernate as adults, and then fly again in early spring.  Variable in coloration and the strength of its markings, with those adults that have overwintered often being fairly worn.

    Adult Verification Grade: 2
