New Sloe Case-bearer

The least common of a group of species requiring dissection of an adult for certain identification.&nbsp; Feeds on blackthorn, and comes to light.&nbsp; Five records to date, three from the Porlock area (1993-1997), also from Taunton (2006) and Frome (2017).

Osier Case-bearer

Requiring dissection as an adult, most records are of the larval cases.&nbsp; The usual foodplants are Salix species (sallows, willows and osiers, especially the former in Somerset), but at Shapwick Heath at least it has been found several times using bog-myrtle Myrica gale.&nbsp; One of the less rarely recorded coleophorids, it probably occurs throughout the county.
