Gorse Case-bearer

Like many coleophorids, recorded both as an adult at light (when it requires dissection) and as a larval case, for this species on gorse.&nbsp; Unsurprisingly, most records are from western, acidic upland areas - and it might well be much more common on Exmoor than records show - but it also occurs on the gorse that invades calcareous downland on the Mendips.&nbsp; No records east of a line between Cheddar and Crewkerne, where the foodplant is scarce or altogether absent.

Large Buff Case-bearer

A rare moth of calcareous grassland, the larvae feeding on common rock-rose Helianthemum nummularium.&nbsp; A few records from Worley Hill in 2003-04, where plausibly it still occurs, and a very old record for Leigh Woods. where it may possibly still occur in some of the quarried areas on the Somerset side of the gorge - there is a relatively recent record for the Gloucestershire side.

Downland Case-bearer

Normally a calcareous downland species, feeding on Thyme, but not restricted to that habitat as a recent larval record from Priddy Mineries shows.&nbsp; Most of the few Somerset records are of adults at light, usually in suitable habitat, but as a record from a Clevedon garden in 2013 shows, it does disperse occasionally.
