Coleophora betulella

    White Birch Case-bearer

    ColeophoridaeABH 37.053 B&F 536

Seven records of this scarce coleophorid, a couple at light and a few more of larval cases on birch.  The most recent is from Crowcombe Heathfield in 2005.  The moth was formerly recorded from the Blackdowns and Shapwick Heath, where presumably suitable habitat still exists, and could feasibly occur on Exmoor and in the Quantocks, where very little, if any, recording of coleophorids has taken place.
