True Lover's Knot

Widely distributed and common in Somerset wherever heathers occur naturally, especially in upland areas, but also in the fragments of heath remaining on the Somerset Levels.&nbsp; There is a concentration of records along the coast north from Burnham-on-Sea, which is likely to reflect migration, and the moth does seem to wander short distances from its breeding grounds.&nbsp; There is no evidence yet of the moth making use of ornamental heathers within gardens.

Red Chestnut

A widespread and common moth wherever large areas of semi-natural, acidic grassland remain - chiefly upland south and west Somerset and central Mendip, also locally in the Gordano valley, the east Somerset oak woods, around Shapwick Heath and Great Breach Wood in the Poldens.&nbsp; Possibly under-recorded, since it flies early in the year.

White-marked

A scarce moth with a scattering of records from acidic upland areas, with woods in the Blackdowns perhaps being the most likely place to find it.&nbsp; Its early flight time means that it is likely to be under-recorded.&nbsp;&nbsp;
