A moth of coastal, sandy areas.&nbsp; No recent records from Somerset, only known from Burnham-on-Sea (pre-1956), Bickenhall (1947) and Portishead (pre-1906).

Campion Groundling

Only a handful of records to date of this species, which is likely to be under-recorded.&nbsp; The larvae make spinnings in the shoots of Red Campion Silene dioica&nbsp;and White Campion Silene latifolia&nbsp;in the spring.

Coast Groundling

A single larval record, from Hurlstone Point in 2007.&nbsp; The larval hostplant is Sea Campion Silene uniflora, and it may occur at other sites supporting this plant; the larvae make a spinning out of the leaves which can be found in April or May.&nbsp; Both plant and moth can also be found inland at former lead-mining sites, so this moth might be found on the Mendips at Priddy Mineries or Charterhouse.
