Red-necked Footman

    Atolmis rubricollis

    ErebidaeABH 72.042 B&F 2039

In Somerset this moth has not really followed the national trend of expansion.  It remains a very local species, most commonly found in wooded settings on acidic soils, such as in the Blackdowns, around Wiveliscombe, the oak woods on the Wiltshire border and the Priddy/Stockhill area.  Numbers increased around the turn of the century, but have subsequently declined again.
