Svensson's Copper Underwing

Separable only with difficulty
from the commoner Copper Underwing, both as an adult and as a larva.&nbsp; Undoubtedly under-recorded, the distribution
map may not reflect the full picture, but it appears fairly widespread if
local, though conspicuously absent from the Levels.

The Anomalous

A moorland species that is a rare
wanderer to gardens.&nbsp; Restricted to the
northern Quantocks, parts of Exmoor and the remaining areas of moorland on
Mendip.&nbsp; At times it can be numerous in
these areas.

from the scarcer - but not rare - Svensson’s Copper Underwing, both as an adult and as a
larva.&nbsp; Common and widespread across the
county, with gaps in its distribution likely to be caused by under-recording.&nbsp; The larvae are polyphagous on the foliage of various deciduous trees.
