Widespread and common, though probably under-recorded as it flies in early spring, especially March.&nbsp; Those attracted to light will be males; the females have greatly reduced wings and do not fly.&nbsp; The larvae are polyphagous on the foliage of various deciduous trees.

Scarce, though almost certainly
under-recorded due to its early flight season; not recorded every year.&nbsp; Tends to be common in oak-rich, generally
upland areas, and scarce in relatively treeless parts of the county such as
much of the Levels and inland Exmoor.

Local and not especially common,
being more frequent in the oak-rich south and west of the county.&nbsp; Because the moth flies very late in the year
and seems not to wander far from woodland, it is probably very under-recorded.
